Patient M.Z, 45 years old

Patient M.Z, 45 years old, presents with complaints of a mass in the left breast (infero-outer quadrant) near the areola. On ultrasound, a well-defined lesion measuring 1.8 x 2 cm is identified. On mammography, BIRADS 3 lesion. Excision of the lesion and ex tempore biopsy are proposed. Sectoral resection and ex tempore biopsy are performed, which results in fibroadenoma with atypical foci (mammary adenosis). The breast resection is extended. Breast remodeling and Benelli plastic technique are performed. The specimen is sent for definitive biopsy and IHC. We present this case to highlight that every breast lesion should be evaluated, as it could be a candidate for future malignancy, considering the biopsy which shows small atypical foci. (As a reminder, the patient has risk factors, as she has family members with breast cancer, increasing her risk.)
