TRU-CUT Liver Biopsy (Hepatic Biopsy)

A Tru-cut liver biopsy is a diagnostic procedure used to obtain a small piece of tissue from the liver (hepar) for microscopic examination.

How the procedure is performed:
1. The patient is positioned on their back or side (usually with the right arm above the head).
2. Ultrasound helps us identify the most suitable area of the liver.
3. The skin over the liver area is cleaned and numbed with local anesthesia.
4. A special Tru-Cut needle is inserted into the liver to obtain a small tissue fragment (1–2 cm).
5. The sample is sent to the histopathology laboratory for microscopic analysis.
